If you have applied or are thinking of applying to Clark University as an international or third-culture student you might be interested pursuing or accepting to join the Global Scholars Program. This is a program tailored for first year applicants who stand out for their leadership in helping their community or are driven by a commitment to make a difference in our world.
Upon applying to Clark, the applications of eligible students (international and third culture) will be reviewed and from then on a select number of students will be chosen and granted membership to the program. Transfer students are not eligible. Upon acceptance students will enjoy the benefits of the program and will also be obliged to fulfill its academic and community service requirements.
Here are the program's benefits(from the Clark University Website):
* A scholarship of no less than $12,000 ** (or $48,000 for four years contingent upon meeting academic standards for renewal);
* A guaranteed $2,500 stipend for a paid internship or research assistantship taken for academic credit during the summer following the sophomore or junior year;
* A guaranteed place in the International Studies Stream;
* A supportive network of faculty, students, staff, alumni and peers;
* Participation in the Global Scholars mentor program, including a semi-annual dinner hosted by Dr. John Bassett, President of Clark University. In addition to a faculty advisor, staff or alumni leadership mentors will support Global Scholars.
** Applicants with financial need greater than the amount of the Global Scholars award may be eligible for additional need-based financial assistance. To be considered, international applicants must submit the International Student Financial Aid Form, and US citizens must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and College Board PROFILE form.
These are the requirements tas a Global Scholar:
-Maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA for each academic year
-Fulfill five hours of community service (there are plenty of opportunities to fulfill this requirement)
-Participate in the development of one of the two academic panels hosted every year. As a freshman and sophomore you will have to present in the academic panel on the topic chosen. As a junior you will have to be a part of the advertising committee for the panel as well as attend the event. As a senior you just have to attend the panel and bring friends with you.

I am a member of the Global Scholars at Clark and I'm very pleased with the program. If this is your sort of thing I recommend to pursue building a curriculum that may attract the attention of the Global Scholar admissions team and if you have applied to Clark and this program is offered to you then I strongly encourage you to take the opportunity. As a Global Scholar you take form of an elite group of international students and you get to make very good contacts and establish good relationships with the university's administration. It is a very good way to start college. The requirements are really not too bad and the academic panels are quite interesting to do. Basically work is divided up on presenting about a topic of global significance. Some of the topics presented in the past have been Global Health, Illegal Arms Trafficking, Gang Violence and Human Trafficking.
